Edina enjoyed last year’s inaugural Art Crawl so much that the town will dance to that tune again March 16. Billed as “where art meets 50th and France,” the event is an opportunity for local businesses to team up with local art students and art professionals.
Last year’s event reminded 50th and France Business Association marketing director Julie Boehm of when she was a kid, looking at the Macy’s holiday window displays with utmost excitement. “The streets were bustling with art admirers peering into the windows to see the masterpieces that were created,” she says.
“The first annual Art Crawl was extremely successful because we have so many neighbors and guests that love and appreciate art,” says Rachel Thelemann, executive director of the Business Association. “So we thought, why not create an event that not only includes the artists and stores but our community at large?”
Attendees can check out the unveiling of store window displays and interact with the artists who created them. New this year are the accolades: A panel of judges will honor the Best Creative Display, and the public can vote on a People’s Choice Award on from 3 to 5 p.m. March 16. Art displays will remain in store windows until March 23, and the winner will be announced March 24.
