If you happen to be lacking a little luxe in your daily life, allow us to recommend a stop into Room No. 3. Opened last July, this elegant little slip of a shop at 50th and France will put the glamour back into your wardrobe, courtesy of lavish lingerie and loungewear pieces.
“We are both romantics at heart…and live to love,” explain owners Beth Griesgraber and Jessica Strong, who met while managing another area shop years ago. “We wanted to look ‘complete’ around our homes and in more casual moments.” Griesgraber continues, “I found inspiration from Jessica, who shared that she touches up her lip gloss and freshens her wardrobe for her husband when he is on his way home from work. I love this sweet, romantic, everyday gesture.”
Indeed, romance seems to define the shop, its contents and décor. Once you pass through the door, you’re welcomed into a warm yet contemporary space with whitewashed wood, fresh flowers and delicate chandeliers. In the spring and summer, Griesgraber and Strong create a beachy shore vibe, while in the fall and winter transform it into “chalet season.”
If any visions of grubby sweat pants still linger in your head, they won’t for long. The merchandise that fills the shop epitomizes delicate luxury, all at a variety of price points with fit and quality at the core. Favorite lines include Beautiful Bottoms, Stella McCartney, MiMi Holliday, James Perse, Lanston, Chantelle and Splendid. Be sure not to miss flowing Beautiful Bottoms chemises (“So feminine and unique with so many ways to wear them,” explains Griesgraber), and ultra-soft Only Heart and Eberjey cotton and lace pieces that feel decadent against your skin. They also stock a precise collection of candles, soaps and home accessories to complete the experience at home.
“Our vision was to create an experience, a retreat away,” explains Griesgraber. “We carry lines we feel beautiful wearing, whether lounging or loving—or simply making morning coffee.”
