Former local KARE 11 anchor, HGTV personality, myTalk Radio host and household name Joan Steffend recently came out with a new book, and it’s been making a connection with everyone.

And She Sparkled is a 40-page prose poem about a young girl who becomes unhappy when she begins to conform to society’s demands. When she finally decides to be true to herself, her inner sparkle begins to shine. “You are unique just the way you are,” is the message that Steffend loves to emphasize.

Steffend began to look at her life and see success, but she did not really feel it—which is what drove her to begin writing the story while on a plane ride six years ago. Since the publishing of the book, she has received numerous comments, many of which emphasize how readers feel as if the story were their own. Young and old, male and female, Steffend says people from all walks of life have felt a sense of connection and inspiration from this tale of self-discovery.
