Ladies and gents, grab your dancing shoes (or sandals, boots and stilettos), because free salsa dancing lessons are back at Centennial Lakes Park this summer. Hosted by seasoned professional instructors Rebecca and Bruce Abas, the evening will teach the basics of cutting a rug, Latin-style, with the gorgeous park surroundings as your backdrop.
On July 25, the night will start off with a dynamic salsa demo by the Abas duo in the park’s gazebo. Then they’ll teach some 40 to 50 students the Latin rhythm, followed by a series of basic steps and turns, all the while rotating partners. “Grab anyone,” says Rebecca, saying that couples and groups of girlfriends alike come for the night’s activities. “I just encourage people to dance with each other.”
“We’ve got people of all ages,” explains Rebecca, who along with her husband Bruce is the co-owner of Four Seasons Dance Studio. “Kids, teenagers, young couples, married couples with kids, seniors. It’s just a ton of fun to come out and dance in the open air.”
Not feeling quite up to any boogying? People are welcome to come out, sit on the bleachers and enjoy the music.
