Minnesota’s first family of music is reuniting, and this time the Edina Historical Society is along for the ride. Edina’s legendary Peterson family, comprised of matriarch Jeanne Arland, her five children and two of her grandchildren, will reprise their annual Peterson Family Concert on June 14, with the Edina Historical Society acting as the host for the first time. The family members who are performing will span across 3 generations.
The family, who has performed with acts ranging from Donny Osmond to Prince, will perform songs from the Great American Songbook. “People can look forward to a lot of fun, heartwarming, familiar songs,” daughter Patty Peterson says. The family also cherishes the concert as a rare opportunity to perform together. “When I can perform with my family, I call it my ‘happy place,’” Peterson says. “There’s nothing like it.”
The concert will also act as a fundraiser for the Edina Historical Society. “A lot of people live in Edina commute and don’t get involved with the history,” says Dan Latham, president of the Edina Historical Society. “We work really hard to make that history come alive.”
