Edina restaurateur Wayne Kostroski is no stranger on the local scene. He was the man behind Tejas and now the Franklin Street Bakery, and is the founder of the anti-hunger organization Taste of the NFL. It’s the latter accomplishment that has garnered him national attention, and what led to the publication of a new book about his work, Bring Out The Best!
Written by Scott Murray, in conjunction with Kostroski, the book goes behind the scenes of Kostroski’s 20-year-old philanthropic enterprise, telling the story of how a Super Bowl party turned into one of the nation’s most prominent hunger-relief fundraisers. Sharing stories from people who have been involved with the Taste of the NFL—from volunteers and hunger relief advocates to NFL stars and famous chefs —the book shows how a simple idea can impact the lives of millions of people.
“Twenty years ago I had a nugget of an idea. I only dreamed it would still be inspiring people two decades later,” Kostroski says. “I hope this book serves as a vehicle to encourage and inspire others to find their compassion for community giving.”
