A joyful school photo takes home the prize for Staff’s Choice.

After a long winter’s rest cooped up inside, there’s nothing more exciting that getting out in that warm springtime sun. That sentiment was certainly not lost on the first-graders at Creek Valley Elementary, who bolted down a hill last May during the school’s annual end-of-the-year Field Day Celebration. Luckily, physical education teacher Dave Dettmann (who also happens to be a professional photographer dabbling in portraits and weddings) was there to catch their exuberance on film. Judges caught the glee bug, too, as the city of Edina communications and marketing staff deemed this “Joy” photo their staff’s choice winner.
