Edina’s Normandale Elementary Wins National Honor

French immersion school honored by Department of Education for high achievement

For the second time in seven years, Normandale Elementary has been named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. The French immersion school was honored along with 268 other schools nationwide for its high achievement rates. “It is great to have confirmation that we really can achieve great things when we all focus on a common goal,” Normandale principal Gerry Lukaska told Patch.com.

Normandale also won a Blue Ribbon in 2005 and was one of seven Minnesota schools to be honored this year. Those selected were honored at a conference and awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., in mid-November
