Pinstripes Bistro is already a lively venue for dining and entertainment with features such as bowling and bocce. But the popular Edina restaurant will come to life—in every artistic sense of the word—with local sculptors on June 20 when the Edina Public Art Committee (EPAC) has its fourth annual Reception for Sculpture Artists.
The free public event to honor local artists goes from 5-7 p.m., with food and beverages provided by Pinstripes and remarks by Mayor Hovland. Individuals are encouraged to view the artists’ work at exhibition sites at The Edina Promenade, 50th & France in downtown Edina and Grandview Square Park, according to Edina Art Center Interim Director Michael Frey.
The following artists will be honored: Roger Junk (see his Dancing Child sculpture below) of Minneapolis, Joel Carter of Minneapolis, Tom Brewitz of Newport, Kristen Arden of Scandia, Bruce Stillman of Minnetrista, James Bearden of Des Moines, IA, Genevieve Chamberland of Apple Valley, Heidi Hoy of St. Bonifacius and Peter Vanni of Eden Prairie.
The 2011 People's Choice winners will be on display for an additional year, so head to Grandview Square to see sculptures by Judd Nelson and James Gabbert, and go to The Edina Promenade to see Steve Elliot's work, as well as the following permanent pieces: Time Piece by Dean Holzman and MN Eco Turtle by Kathy Gustafson. The Pinecone by Marcia McEachron is at Centennial Lakes Park.
The EPAC, which Frey says formed in 2004 to add public art to the community, is an Edina Art Center board committee.
