Mish Mash, This That

The local studio is a place where cool vintage finds and creativity happily co-exist.

As a self-admitted “non-crafty” type, I have respect, admiration and, yes, a touch of envy towards those who are always looking for their next project. The idea of Pinterest, the new social-media website where the crafty types can gather to share ideas, intrigues me. That’s why a place like Mish Mash Studio, located next to Snuffy’s Malt Shop on Valley View Road, is my kind of store. Filled with beautiful handcrafted jewelry, seriously cool tote bags, handmade cards and so much more, this is a place where I could spend a lot of time.

There are also a whole host of fabulous vintage items—housewares, clothing, books—including my personal favorite: A chip bowl made from an old Partridge Family album. Seriously? You have to love something like that. Local artist and part-time Mish Mash employee Melinda Kordich and I admired this masterpiece together. The fact that we both remembered that the album cover for this record featured the birthdays of all the Partridge Family members really made us laugh.

Mish Mash Studio is that kind of place—owners Annie Schilling and Marlena Barry and their employees love all this stuff as much as you will. For more on Mish Mash, see the May issue of  Edina Magazine (available May 1 at edinamag.com).

Until then, don’t be afraid to check out the crafty shop yourself:
