The words style and cancer are difficult to place in the same sentence, let alone a headline. There’s nothing glamorous, vein or trendy about breast cancer. Those who have been touched by the disease—whether it’s through a family member, friend or a first-hand encounter—know that all too well.
But supporting breast cancer survivors, those currently battling the disease, as well as honoring the victims through a gathering that meshes friends, fun and fundraising is in style every season. Galleria and Hope Chest for Breast Cancer will soon have a decade’s worth of proof with their 10th annual Breast Cancer Brunch and Fashion Show set for May 6.
The Good Earth is starting the morning off right with a healthy brunch, and guests can enjoy conversation over fruit-infused cocktails prior to a presentation by Hope Chest founder Barbara Hensley. Since 2001, Hope Chest has provided over $1,000,000 in financial assistance to breast cancer families and those in the Twin Cities who are strained financially or can’t work due to breast cancer treatment. The organization also provides screening and meal programs.
After the presentation, breast cancer survivors and their families will take the runway as Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine style editor Allison Kaplan hosts the fashion show, featuring seasonal styles for men, women and children that can be found at Galleria shops.
After you’re inspired, guests can shop the day away at Galleria stores (don’t forget Mother’s Day is May 13) and bring your receipts to Galleria Guest Services to enter your name for each $100 spent for a drawing to win an overnight weekend stay at The Westin Edina Galleria.
