On Tuesday, August 6, neighbors around Edina congregated outdoors to celebrate Edina's Night to Unite. The event, similar to those held around Minnesota provided an opportunity for residents to get to know the folks who live on their street and in their neighborhood. It also spotlights local law enforcement efforts at crime prevention by helping raise community awareness.
Mayor Hovland and his wife LaRae were invited to Teresa Hermes' block party and made a point to visit with Hermes and her neighbors for most of the evening. “It was really nice to have [Mayor Hovland and LaRae] there as they spent a lot of time visiting with the large crowd as we had a great turnout,” says Hermes. “They brought cupcakes so the kids were immediate fans and were pretty excited to meet the Mayor.”
Kudos to all Edina residents who made a point of enjoying such a lovely summer evening outside together with friends and neighbors – and cupcakes!
