The Fox Sports North Girls competition gives Minnesota girls who double as sports fanatics a chance to exercise their interview and broadcast skills while vying to become the next Fox Sports North Girls.

Kendall Zilka, a 21-year-old Edina native, placed in the top 10 of 200 applicants in the competition. The first phase of the competition included submitting a one-minute video about why she should be the next Fox Sports North Girl. The second phase consisted of a photo shoot and an on-screen debut, as well as an interview with the Fox Sports team.

“I really enjoyed working in front of the green screen and working with the current Fox Sports North Girls,” says Zilka.

“The photo shoot was fun and the interview went well, and when I left the studio I felt energized and excited.”

Although Zilka did not win the competition, it inspired her to work in the broadcast industry some day. But for now, Zilka is studying marketing and French at the University of Minnesota, and recently landed a job in sales and marketing in Minneapolis.

In the meantime, you can catch her at the Xcel Energy Center cheering on her beloved Minnesota Wild.
