Edina Community Looks Forward to Spring Baseball Season

Baseball season is closer than you think.
Edina Junior Legion Post 471 (U17) team kept the wins and hard work rolling through another successful season of tournament play in 2017.
They won the 2017 American Legion Mid States Junior Regional Tournament in Fargo, North Dakota. But it wasn’t a total walk in the park.
After advancing out of pool play with 3 solid wins, the team went on to rally against Sioux Falls East in an exciting 6-5 semifinal, thanks to a much needed three-run homer in the fifth, followed by a runs batted in (RBI) double in the seventh.
“One of the key difference makers all season was our ability to respond when teams scored on us,” says head coach Mike O’Brien.
In the championship match against the Fargo Bombers, Edina once again came out of a 2-0 deficit to win the game 13-4.
“I can’t say enough about how well we responded and played as a unit when the going got tough,” says O’Brien.
Come on, spring, we want to see what our team can do this year!
