With 500 new “dockless” bikes in Edina, residents are officially able to go green with LimeBike. All you need to do is download the app to your mobile device.
“We are pretty excited about it and the process,” says Edina’s transportation planner Mark Nolan, “and also to work with our residents on how to use these bikes.”
While this is Edina’s first “dockless” program, it may look familiar to those who know the Nice Ride program in the Twin Cities. However, unlike that program with expensive docking stations, these bikes can be picked up anywhere in the city and then left in recommended areas after your ride. For $1 per 30-minute ride, riders can unlock a bike by scanning a QR code and then paying directly from the app. When you’re finished riding, simply use the app to re-lock the bike.
