Edina's Utility Boxes Get a Makeover

Look for Edina’s beautifully wrapped utility boxes.

A few years ago, the city of Edina reached out to Public Art Edina to find unique and fun ways to enhance the city. From there, the idea of having wrapped utility boxes was born. “There are currently six wrapped utility boxes,” says Barbara La Valleur, former chair of Public Art Edina. Three of the artists were chosen via competition, whereas the others were chosen from their previous artwork. There are a few requirements for having wrapped utility boxes: the artist has to be a member of the Edina community and the only utility boxes that can be wrapped are those owned by the city.

There aren’t new plans for any more boxes to be wrapped in the immediate future. However, if you’re interested in presenting a new idea for box wrapping, please contact the city of Edina.
