When Margo Farrell extends an invitation to meet at the bar, it isn’t sipping on Cabernet she has in mind. Instead, Farrell suggests a different sort of “happy hour.” Farrell is the owner of Pure Barre Edina and she invites all women whose goal is to feel healthy in both body and mind to walk through the doors of her spacious, light-filled exercise studio at Rue de France.
Over the past 20 years, Farrell’s personal life and corporate career in marketing for companies such as Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) have been in sync with her desires to promote women and their health. But after the birth of her third child, she discovered barre workouts. Her goals paired with appreciation for this effective exercise method, and together, they led to a career change.
The fast-paced 55-minute classes aren’t dance-oriented, but a ballet barre is used for support and to ensure proper form during some of the moves that are designed to optimize total body strength. Thanks to nine well-trained instructors, modifications are offered for all fitness levels. Farrell’s approach goes beyond simply providing a great place to work out. The friendly atmosphere extends to Wine Down Wednesdays and other special events, when attendees are invited to stick around and socialize after workouts.
Single classes are available, as are a wide range of package deals and monthly unlimited passes.
