A new library program provides free music downloads.
Looking for more ways to expand your musical library without breaking the bank? The Hennepin County Library system has got you covered. A new online music database called Freegal allows you to download songs legally for free, provided you have a Minnesota library card that is registered at Hennepin County Libraries.
There are dozens of genres and categories available, and Freegal allows you to search by artist name or genre, or simply browse the full list of offerings. Freegal does limit downloads to three a week. With the downloadable catalogue expanding continually, and the MP3 files compatible with your iPod or other MP3 devices, it’s a great way to seek out some great new music.
