Noah Deets: Recognizing the Power of Theater

Eight-year-old Noah Deets recognizes what acting teaches us

“I think that theater can help us learn about experiences others have and the feelings they feel even though they may not be near us,” says Noah Deets who, at eight years old, is already an accomplished actor and an astute observer of the power of theater. Last February Deets took part in And A Child Shall Lead, a heroic story of children coming of age in Terezin, the “Jewish city” established by Nazis as a way station en route to the death camps. “I learned about history and I learned about what other children like me have gone through in history.”

Previous to And A Child Shall Lead, Deets appeared in 88 performances of the Children’s Theatre Company’s The Wizard of Oz (CTC’s all-time highest grossing production). He has appeared on signage in Target stores and in television commercials for United Healthcare, 3M and other companies. And this summer he will audition for A Christmas Carol at Guthrie Theater and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas at the Children’s Theatre Company.
