Presenting: Pinocchio

Children Theatre Company’s accomplished managing director calls Edina home.

Don’t tell a lie, kids, or your nose will grow long. That’s the allegorical lesson from the ageless story of Pinocchio, an adaption of which the Children’s Theatre Company is presenting through Feb. 24. This version of Pinocchio uses only four actors playing multiple roles. The Biggest Little House in the Forest is also playing at the Minneapolis-based Children’s Theatre Company and will run until March 17.

Tim Jennings, who lives in Edina with his wife Truly Carmichael and their son Zachary, is managing director of the theater company; he managed the Seattle Children’s Theatre Company until last year and the Roseneath Theatre in Toronto before that. Jennings’ work over the years has garnered seven Dora awards  (Toronto’s version of the Tony award) and 15 nominations. He has presented artists from every inhabited continent and toured productions to more than a dozen countries. In 2007, Jennings was shortlisted for Canada’s arts manager of the year.

“Minnesota is so lucky to be the home to the world’s flagship children’s theater and we at CTC are so lucky to have the Twin Cities to support us and ensure that CTC continues to exist and flourish,” says Jennings.
