Village Volunteer

Edina woman is passionate about helping kids in the community.

Edina resident Cathy Cella has been active in the community for 33 years and she isn’t planning on slowing down anytime soon. Because of this, she was awarded a Connecting with Kids Leadership Award last spring. She first got involved in the community when she started teaching confirmation classes at St. Steven’s Episcopal Church. Since then, she has done countless jobs in and for the community.

Currently, Cella works with fourth-grade math classes once a week at Cornelia Elementary and is a volunteer for the Access program at Edina High School, helping kids with post-secondary planning. “I grew up in Edina when it was a village and I like to think of it as still a village that comes together to help support and provide for its children. I want to help the kids foster leadership skills because I believe that kids need more than a family to be supportive of them,” says Cella.
