The Edina Mayfly fast-pitch softball tournament is in its 25th year. Participating athletes are girls between the ages of 9 and 12.
“We have pretty good participation from girls,” says Patrick Willette, president of the Edina Girls Fastpitch Association. Willette says there are about 800 to 1,200 spectators at every event. “From a softball perspective, it’s one of the top tournaments,” he says.
Many of the girls continue to play softball in high school and some play in college.
The tournament will be held May 12-14 at Pamela Field and Van Valkenburg Park.
