Edina’s 4th of July parade looks to be as fun-filled as ever, with everything you’ve come to expect and more. “It’s an event people seem to love,” says Amanda Clarke, city liaison for the parade. “There’s not any certain thing that brings people out, it’s the whole event.”
Edina residents have been able to enjoy the parade for almost 90 years, and every year it’s been one of the biggest events in the city. It’s hard not to see why; anywhere between 80-100 local groups participate, from businesses to school teams, to veterans and the sheriff’s office and many more. There will be a marching band, a variety of parade units and even horses from the sheriff’s department. With a theme of celebrating Edina’s seniors this year, parade participants and spectators alike are an important part of this celebration.
And once evening rolls around, it will be time to make your way to Rosland Park for the John Philip Sousa Memorial Band. The music starts at 8:45 p.m., so bring a blanket and even some snacks while you hang out with friends and family and await the main event of the night: the fireworks. These “bombs bursting in air” will light up the sky at dusk or around 10 p.m.
