Roti Modern Mediterranean seamlessly blends the fast and easy food we need on a busy day, with healthy choices and the bold flavors found in Mediterranean cuisine.
In November, Roti opened its third Minneapolis area location in Edina on France Avenue. However, the chain does not plan to stop there. It hopes to add more restaurants around the Twin Cities metro area to accompany the 40 already existing locations they have in Minneapolis, Chicago, Washington D.C., New York and Dallas.
The company was founded by a group of several individuals who wanted to make Mediterranean cuisine accessible for everyone, even those in a rush.
“Our brand was created by a group of friends who enjoyed the Mediterranean culture and cuisine and wanted to bring it to life in modern day,” says Sam Devermann, marketing manager for Roti.
Part of the allure of Roti is the ability to choose how and when you eat. Customers can order their food on an app and pick it up when it’s ready, to take back to the office or home. But customers are encouraged to dine in when they can and enjoy the modern industrial vibe of the restaurant and catering services.
“It’s a delight to be there, and customers feel welcome to relax and stay awhile,” Devermann says.
The restaurant mimics the feel of the food: comfortable, yet modern. The interior combines wooden tables, metal white stools and greenery throughout. On one white brick wall there is a stenciled logo that reads “Food that loves you back," which is the company’s slogan, surrounded by a swirling black design that reveals upon a closer look to be a combination of leaves, trees and fresh produce.
“Over the years Roti has evolved to fit the pace of modern life but remains dedicated to sharing our Food That Loves You Back. We want to change the way people eat with food that loves you back,” Devermann says.
Roti encourages its customers to learn to nourish their bodies with ingredients and food that tastes just as good as it makes you feel. Healthy, wholesome and fresh ingredients that always leave you wanting another bite, which you can do guilt-free.
Roti’s menu is a line-based concept, where customers can either choose one of their Modern Classics, such as the seasonal kale & chickpea salad with a lemony vinaigrette and za’tar spice or they can build their own meal. First, you choose between a sandwich, made on a soft laffa wrap or whole wheat pita, a rice plate or a salad. Then you continue down the line choosing proteins, which include chicken, steak, salmon and lamb, as well as falafel for all of the fellow vegan and vegetarians. You can pile your plate high with toppings and sauces such as lemon oregano pickles, feta cheese, couscous, dill and cucumber yogurt sauce or a spicy red s’hug sauce for those who are feeling daring.
Molly McGrath is the chef and culinary director responsible for the abundance of choices and flavors on the menu. She is always researching and testing new recipes and blending tastes and textures to expand the menu to continuously evolve with the growth of the brand and expansion of the restaurants across the nation.
“Roti’s story begins where many great stories begin—around the table with friends sharing a meal. We created Roti as a way to share the Mediterranean’s bright spices, flavors, wholesome ingredients, and traditions,” Devermann says.
