If there’s one day to treat your mom, May 12 — Mother’s Day — would be it. The second Sunday in May calls for a bit of pampering, and giving mom the day off from cooking most certainly is a top pampering priority. Whether mom loves to shop, stroll or just hang out with her family, these restaurant picks, one from each of Edina’s most popular destinations: 50th and France, Galleria and Southdale Center, will surely help you treat your terrific mom to a terrific meal on Mother’s Day.

Consider three things when picking the best place to dine: the food, the mood and ambiance. Mother’s Day should be a day to remember … but not for a long wait or a bad meal. Be sure to think about what she’d love before reserving that table — which should be done soon!

McCormick & Schmick’s
With towering chandeliers, gorgeous deep mahogany wood and tons of natural light shining in through the windows, McCormick & Schmick’s is an elegant and sophisticated spot for Mother’s Day. A local destination for just over 10 years in the heart of the Westin Galleria hotel, it’s the perfect spot for wining and dining, followed by a bit of shopping.

While Mother’s Day is one of the restaurant's busiest days of the year, sales manager Kay Johnson says they gear up by opening their private dining room to accommodate more guests. As for the menu, “We do a menu that includes our guests' favorites,” Johnson says. Expect to see an array of brunch items, a taste of Alaskan fare and decadent desserts.

Past Mother’s Day brunch menus have included classic breakfast items, such as quiche and french toast, plus an omelette and crepe station. For dessert, Johnson says the menu will include specialty items that we think mom will love. Past dessert menus have included a vast lineup of delicious favorites, such as chocolate dipped strawberries, fruit tarts and house-made biscotti. Plus, mom can top off her meal with a delicious mimosa, bloody Mary or coffee.

The drink menu includes over 15 hand-selected wines, as well as a few classic brunch cocktails, such as the bloody Mary, the screwdriver and, mom's Mother’s Day favorite, the mimosa.

Brunch items include delicious classics, such as the Lakeshore french toast served with maple bacon and fresh fruit, as well as fun, decadent favorites including Alaskan salmon eggs Benedict and portobello eggs Benedict. The menu also features a few options for shared plates, which includes things like a hummus platter or walleye strips, as well as more traditional dishes, including their legendary quiche, baked macaroni & cheese and Mrs. Hering’s signature chicken pot pie.
