From the North Pole to Southdale Center

An interview with Santa Claus.
Santa Claus told us that he gets up early each morning to read children’s letters, feed the reindeer and enjoy a hearty breakfast.

If you’ve ever dreamed of having more than a few minutes to chat with Santa Claus, here’s some of what he told us when we caught up with him at Southdale Center.

Edina Magazine:
What’s your favorite type of cookie?
Santa Claus: I’ve never met a cookie I didn’t like! But if I had to choose just one, it would be chocolate chip.

EM: Are there any other treats you enjoy on Christmas Eve?
SC: I always love visiting homes that leave carrots out for my reindeer. So thoughtful!

EM: What’s the most unusual gift request you’ve received?
SC: Once, a young man asked me to create a website for him so he could stay in touch with his grandparents, aunts and uncles, virtually.

EM: When you were a kid, what was one of your favorite gifts?
SC: For me, the best presents will always be gifts of the heart. You can’t top that!

EM: What types of requests please you most?
SC: I’ve been asked to bring mom or dad home for Christmas when they’re deployed overseas.

EM: What do you like most about your job?
SC: I’ve never really thought of this as a job. This is just who I am.
