Red’s Savoy Pizza has been a mainstay in downtown St. Paul since the early 1960s. Their claim to fame has been their spicy sauce and sausage, generous toppings and the addition of sauerkraut on their pies. In recent years, more locations have popped up around the metro area, including an Edina location which opened in February.
Reed Daniels, co-owner of the Edina franchise, says Edina was a logical place to set up shop. “One thing Edina does really well is maintain a sense of community,” Daniels says. “We like that.”
The Edina location is cozy, with a four-seat bar serving beer and wine and 42-seat restaurant that boasts a family atmosphere. Sports fans will appreciate the big-screen TVs, while kids will hanker for the new dessert pizzas in flavors like apple and cherry streusel. Daniels recommends the popular Hawaiian pizza with Canadian bacon and pineapple, or the barbecue pizza with chicken and onions as perfect summer pies. Red’s Savoy also offers a salad bar for those craving cold and crunchy.
