Read and Reflect: Local Libraries Celebrate Black History Month

For Black History Month, Edina Library will work to help students with school assignments on African-Americans in history. But this month is also a good occasion for people of all ages to read and reflect on people and movements that have shaped the black experience. Black History Month programming from Hennepin County Library includes a talk on Minnesotan inventor Frederick McKinley Jones at Hosmer Library as part of the new History Comes Alive program series. Brooklyn Park Library will host Global Folk: West African Drum and Dance on Saturday, February 27 to bring the rhythms of West Africa to the Twin Cities. Both events are open to children in grades K-6 and their families.
