Are you ready for the first and largest outdoor fine art extravaganza of the season? It’s the 49th year of the Edina Art Fair, and there’s something in store for everyone.
This three-day event, June 5‒7, includes work from artists around the country, music, food, and tons of activities.
The Teddy Bear Band will open the fair at 10 a.m. on June 5, and live music will be featured throughout the fair’s duration. You can also expect a puppet show, kids’ bouncy houses, face painting and family-oriented activities.
“We’re going to revamp the Foot in the Fair,” says Rachel Thelemann, director of the 50th and France Business Association. This means an art gallery filled with work from middle and high school students in the Edina 5-0 Mall.
Want more? Edina Grill will host a craft beer garden at 49 ½ Street (behind D’Amico & Sons) where folks can eat, drink and enjoy the summer sun. Additional features of the art fair include a free shuttle bus and a bike corral.
And of course, you can also check out the art: handblown glass, pottery, photography, handmade furniture, wearable fiber, garden art, metal sculpture, paintings, clothing, home décor, and mixed-media pieces.
“It’s considered a high-end art fair, as opposed to a craft fair, meaning that this is juried by artist professionals,” says Marti Johnson of MJ Jewelry Designs. And even though the work is top of the line, there are items for sale at a variety of price points.
