The sixth annual Edina Day of Service will be held October 25. Organizations and community members come together to perform a variety of community service projects including highway cleanup, decorating cookies for nursing home residents and making blankets. Connecting With Kids, a program of the Edina Community Foundation, facilitates the event, and all participants are volunteers. This year, the event coincides with Make a Difference Day, a national day of service, which Connecting With Kids director Kris Marshall says makes the day even more special. “You know that people are helping their neighbors that day,” Marshall says. Last year, approximately 15 groups of 20 volunteers participated in Edina Day of Service, and expectations are high once again, Marshall says. Volunteers are encouraged to come up with their own ideas for a service project, but Connecting With Kids also lines up opportunities for volunteers.
