Graham Woodward remembers his parents putting a basketball into his hands at a young age. Clearly, it paid off. The Edina High School senior became the all-time leading point scorer in January, and was one of 5 finalists for 2013 Mr. Basketball in Minnesota. “He’s pretty infectious,” says Pat Dorsey, the team’s varsity head coach. “He elevates and motivates by example, and creates credibility for being the leader because he’s also the hardest worker.” The work Woodward puts into basketball also translates to his success in the classroom. This fall, he will attend Penn State University in Happy Valley, and play point guard for the Nittany Lions.“He’s a great player and a great student, but he’s an even better person as far as his character and knowing the right things to do,” says Dorsey. “He’s very grounded, and has been a gift to coach.”
