My fall flavor palate is already leaning heavy on delightful, cherry-forward reds that pair perfectly to the earthy aromas of the season. Fallen leaves, wet wood and the mushroom-like smells of that late autumnal ground has me in the mood for roasted root vegetables and savory stews. Then, I gravitate toward one grape, Gamay— grape born of the southern edges of Burgundy. The region of Beaujolais, France reveres this grape as “king.” Because of its light skin, high acid and juicy fruit flavors it’s bound to taste amazingly good with all of your fall favorites. Try Domaine Dupeuble Gamay from Beaujolais. Enjoy it slightly chilled in a proper Burgundy wine glass and you’ll feel the tingle of fresh strawberry, cherry and raspberry come to life like it were the first day of summer. Such a lovely pair to the season, clink clink!
