Roz Safdari grew up in Cloquet, Minn. and likely thought her days in the northland were over after moving to Atlanta to pursue her career as a master hairstylist. There, she met and married master colorist Alex Safdari and the duo moved to Manhattan where they worked for the famed Rita Hazan Salon of NYC, which counted among its clientele celebs like Beyoncé, Madonna and Jennifer Lopez. But Minnesotans understand the draw of the Twin Cities for families with young children and those in search of a good life with a more reasonable price tag.
With two young daughters in tow, the Safdaris have relocated to Minneapolis this year and couldn’t be happier with their decision. They bring their depth of beauty and style expertise to Juut Salonspa at Southdale Center in Edina, making their move a win-win for them and for us, now that Minnesota trendsetters need never travel far to get cutting edge hair color and styling.
“We have the best of both worlds,” Alex says. “We return to New York every six weeks to service our clients there.” Yet he’s thrilled to discover how quickly they’ve adapted to life in what one of his new clients refers to as “the new north.”
