The Edina High School Thespians will perform two plays this month: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Rhinoceros. Tony Matthes will direct The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, after being inspired by two friends who produced the play for their own theater company, Walking Shadow. Matthes recruited them to help him two days a week. To portray the headless horseman, Matthes says, “It’s a lot of shadow work and a lot of puppetry. It’s going to be spectacular.”
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow will run January 30 and 31, and February 1, at 7 p.m. at the Edina Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for students and senior citizens.
Fred Chang will direct Rhinoceros, the high school’s submission to One-act Plays, a theater competition that takes place each year. Six schools from the Twin Cities metro area perform one 30-minute play every night. The winner of the competition has the chance to represent their class in a state competition. Rhinoceros is actually a three-part, three-hour play, but will be shortened to 45 minutes. Come see what happens when everyone but one man in a small town gets turned into a rhinoceros!
Rhinoceros will run January 24 and 25 at 7 p.m. at the Edina Performing Arts Center. Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $6 for students and senior citizens.
