We all have a moment where we think, “Man, I should have taken a picture.” Maybe it’s your mother laughing at a joke, or the first time a toddler meets a dog. Sometimes, it’s a moment you especially want to remember.
“As a photographer, I bring my camera everywhere,” says Molly Andresen. “It was such a sweet moment, and [Juliet] was so happy and excited.”
Andresen’s photo, Watching Softball, is of her daughter, Juliet. The reason she’s so excited is her father is the one playing, and like most children, she wants to see it all. It doesn’t take an expert to see how she feels in the photograph; that’s one joyful little girl.
The photograph won recognition in the 2017 Images of Edina photo contest in the People category. The setting is Van Valkenburg Park where a local adult softball league was playing.
“It showed a community event and the how kids watch it,” says Andresen. “It was this one versus her running on the field, and this one showed what being in Edina is more about. You just couldn’t identify that in the other photos.”
Andresen doesn’t simply take photos as a hobby. She is a professional, with people being her preferred subject. From family photo shoots to weddings, Andresen enjoys taking photos full of emotion and expression.
When asked if she would enter the contest again, she says, “Is that allowed?” (It is!) After laughing for a bit, she explains, “I most likely will. I love taking pictures in and around the community.”
