Edina Tutor Receives Fulbright Scholarship

Fulbright scholar Maureen Koets is traveling across Europe.

Edina native Maureen Koets has received a Fulbright scholarship grant and will be using it to teach abroad.

The Fulbright program offers opportunities to study, research or teach internationally. The program was established in 1946 by the U.S. Congress to foster positive relations between American citizens and people in other countries. “It’s one of the top scholarships,” Koets says.
A 2016 graduate of St. Norbert College, Koets is a German tutor.
With the grant, she will be a teaching assistant for 10 months at a German high school. Her housing and food will be covered by a stipend of 800 euros a month. “It’ll open a lot of doors,” Koets says.
Koets would like to be a professor and plans to get her master’s degree after her grant period is over. “I hope to stay in Europe,” she says.Edina native Maureen Koets has received a Fulbright scholarship grant and will be using it to teach abroad.
