At this program hosted by Edina Historical Society and the Monument Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, participants will discover two online tools that make genealogical inquiries easier than ever. Presenters Janie Puckett and Dianne Plunkett Latham are both members of DAR, a 125-year-old national society that is open to anyone with demonstrated lineal descent from someone who fought in the Revolutionary War. Now 177,000 strong, the organization’s activities include youth and community education programs, as well as scholarships and awards. Bring a laptop or mobile device to follow along as experts demonstrate how to use FamilySearch.org and the NSDAR Patriot Index to dig up the roots of your family tree. Whether you’re hoping to acquire the documentation necessary to become a member of DAR or merely curious about your heritage, it’s sure to be an enlightening lunch hour. Desserts and refreshments are provided. Participants should bring their own bagged lunch. Seating limited to first 50. Reservations by email required. Free. 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. presentations.
