Water, malted barley, yeast and hops — 4 simple ingredients that in combination can be ordinary or absolutely sublime. Every brewer (professional and home) experiments with these components to brew their perfect IPA, best brown or oatmeal stout. Selecting the perfect sweetening agent — honey, beet sugar, molasses, maple syrup, the ideal combination of malted grains and which hops to add when require both a playful mindset and a the willingness to try, fail and try again.
Did you realize your glass was full of creativity?
To create a completely unique taste, brewers might add interesting adjuncts like nutmeg and cinnamon for a pumpkin ale or crystallized ginger, molasses and honey for a French saison ale. Brewing — and play — have a lot in common: they’re better with experimentation and they fuel creative and critical thinking. One boring brew won’t deter a brewer — nor a child building with blocks, blankets and chairs. As parents, we’ve all witnessed the amazing castles and forts that erupt out of blankets and ordinary furniture.
We’re not just trying to make you thirsty. We’re trying to get you — our adult community of parents and future parents — to see how the power of play to makes our world more interesting and innovative. And that’s why we’re leading a series of play dates for adults at metro taprooms.
(NOTE: A scientist’s attention to detail is especially important, too: recording the ingredients, the method and keeping everything clean.)
Play. Socialize. Innovate
