Appropriate to its name, Refresh Properties seeks out design and remodel challenges in the Twin Cities, transforming properties to give them new life. “Our portfolio includes suburban duplex home renovations in Edina, rental investments, modern condominiums in Minneapolis and contemporary designer lofts in the North Loop,” says Leah Peterson, president of Refresh Properties.
Led by Peterson and her partner Kasey Kollross, the team’s impressive redesign projects can be seen on the company website, giving a clear, detailed visual of their renovation portfolio. In one downtown Minneapolis unit, the space hadn’t been updated since the 1980s, so gutting the condo for a complete overhaul was in order.
The result was a trendy, modern condominium with much-needed updates including a stone fireplace, entirely new kitchen cupboards, an added backsplash, granite countertops, track lighting and hardwood floors to give it an unrecognizable transformation. And thankfully, no signs left of its dated ’80s look.
Now, the company’s most recent project has taken them to the suburbs. Before its complete overhaul, 4230 Valley View Road was a less-than-stellar property in the neighborhood. This drab duplex was the perfect project for Peterson and Kollross to infuse a breath of fresh air into the area. The project, now called 4230 Homes, also gave the pair a unique challenge of tackling a much larger project than in prior remodels.
“We typically work on condos in which [all the work] is interior,” Peterson says. “This is a complete teardown and rebuild; definitely a much larger project. We also like to offer properties that are full of the amenities a person is looking for, but still at a realistic and affordable price, so it’s exciting for us to be able to offer that much in a larger home, with a lot more square footage.”
Now, this duplex’s story has a much brighter tone. It features a modern design with a spacious, open concept at 2,500 square feet per unit. The four-bedroom, two-bath, two-story abode is rich in amenities: convenient laundry, attached garages, fireplace, tile walk-in showers and soaker tubs, stainless steel appliances, expansive kitchen islands and high ceilings. The home features hardwood floors throughout; the numerous large windows bring in natural lighting.
There’s nothing better than an appealing neighborhood environment to complement a home’s must-haves. “These homes are conveniently located for walking, biking, driving and public transit,” Peterson says, “making them ideal for an active lifestyle without the hassles of dense urban setting.”
At 4230 Homes, shopping and entertainment is just a short walk, bike or drive away at Southdale Center for shopping or grabbing dinner at one of the many area restaurants including Town Hall Station, the newest addition to the Town Hall establishments in the Twin Cities. For outdoor enthusiasts, a bike trail system is easily accessible and nearby Pamela Park provides plenty of green space for outdoor activities.
4230 Homes is ideal for young professionals who want to enjoy the nearby restaurants, pubs and entertainment or for a young family with children looking to be a part of a top-rated school district. Empty-nesters looking to downsize will find plenty of room for their current living needs.
These units will be available late summer 2017. To tour the homes, open house dates are available on the website.
