Power to Edina

A community solar garden is coming to Edina.

In late 2016 or early 2017, a community solar garden will be installed on the roof of the Edina Public Works building. Cooperative Energy Futures was awarded this site by the City of Edina in the fall of 2015, making Edina the first city to have a city-hosted solar garden in Minnesota.

Community solar gardens are a great way to shrink the community’s carbon footprint. A community-hosted solar garden is beneficial to families that want to use solar energy but may not have the proper roof structure to do so or don’t have enough money to purchase the setup for their home.

Subscriptions are only available to Edina residents at this time. There are now 25 subscribers, with a capacity for 80 to 100 households. The service will be opened up to businesses after the first six months if there are any remaining subscriptions.
