International Women’s Day (IWD) is just around the corner, and we at Edina Magazine, an employer of many women, are proud to proclaim the day’s significance.
March 8th was deemed IWD in the early 1900s, so it’s been a fixture of world culture for quite some time. The idea when it was first created was to promote the equality of women everywhere. As such, there’s really no tie to any particular organization, as it says on the official site. The recognition is globally relevant.
“The day brings awareness to current issues and recognition to our accomplishments,” says Maggie Kelly, managing editor. “I’d toast to the women who struggle to feel secure everywhere.”
So whether you wear a purple outfit (the official color) or volunteer to make the life of women better, March 8th is a time to stand up for all women of the world.
