Do you remember a few months back, when our enthusiastic staff writer Eric Johnson took us behind the scenes of a beginner (but actually hardcore) parkour class at the local Fight or Flight Academy? This weekend, Fight or Flight is giving locals the chance to see parkour pros up close and in action.
Fight or Flight, one of the premier parkour and freerunning facilities in the country, will host the third-annual Minnesota Summer Parkour & Freerunning Championship, bringing best in the Midwest together to compete for ultimate bragging rights. While the competition is invite-only, Fight or Flight owner Chad Zwadlo encourages anyone interested. "I'm expecting around 20 people to participate, but the event is open and free to anyone who wants to come out and watch," Swadlo told City Pages reporter Patrick Strait.
This weekend's competition will include a speed round, one-on-one matches and freerunning freestyle rounds. Once the pros have showcased their skills, Fight or Flight will hold an open gym to those ambitious enough jump, scale and climb the course for themselves. Think you're up to the challenge? Take a peek before you go!
