Pilates ProWorks at Centennial Lakes in Edina

New fitness studio expands to the Midwest.

If it plays in the Big Apple, it must play in Edina, too. Pilates ProWorks, New York City’s best Pilates studio according to Citysearch, opened its 10th location nationwide this fall in Centennial Lakes Plaza. The company already has locations around California’s Bay Area, New York, Chicago, and even in Bogota, Columbia.

Pilates ProWorks’ 55-minute classes use an apparatus known as a FitFormer, developed by founder Oscar Sanin, which builds muscles and offers smooth exercises and minimal impact on the joints. The classes fuse core practice with traditional fitness moves such as lunges and shoulder presses set to upbeat music. Each class tops out at 12 people, so each member gets their own. Pilates ProWords also offers Mommy & Me Pilates, a special class designed for new moms to work out with their babies, and a pre/post-natal class, which primes the body for pregnancy and allows for a quick recovery.

Co-owner Devon Ericksen, a fashion and fitness model in New York with Wilhelmina, is a native of nearby Rosemount. Now Ericksen can work her core right here at home .

“I’m beyond excited to be an owner of Pilate ProWorks-Edina,” says Ericksen. “I wanted to be able to bring a surrounding area of Minneapolis the best workout that I have found living in New York City. I’m obsessed with our Pilates FitFormer machines, BarrePro and TRX classes, because they give me long lean muscles. This is what allows me to sustain a career in both fitness and fashion.”
