A six-month renovation has concluded, making it safer for pedestrians to cross the busy intersections on France Avenue. The project was completed in three phases: Hazelton Road to 70th Street, 70th Street to 66th Street, and 76th Street back to Hazelton Road. Each phase took approximately a month to complete. Construction focused on shortening the length of each crossing, adding a refuge island in the middle of longer crossings, and updating traffic signals with video cameras as well as repainting the lines on the pavement. “It will make a safer facility for both pedestrians and vehicles, as well as reduce confusion,” says city engineering director Chad Millner.
