European men’s fashion brand Suitsupply recently opened in the Galleria. If you’re unfamiliar, this Amsterdam based retailer has over 125 international stores offering full collections of men’s suits, outerwear and attire in fine Italian fabrics. But they are likely best known for their expert personal tailoring. And now, those in search of fashion forward suits and business casual wear can shop Suitsupply’s new 3,520 square foot store right here in Edina.
The store’s incredible selection of suits come in seven styles that include many of the finer details of a luxury designer suit but at a lower price point. But this is no “discount” store. We are talking the Galleria after all and these styles are on trend and upscale. Shoppers can even have a suit custom created and select all of their specific details from fabric to lining to buttons and have it ready to wear in approximately three weeks. The store’s three full-time tailors can perform any other alterations on an a la carte basis either same day or in three days depending on how extensive the work is.
Casual looks include sport coats, sweaters and denim paired with stylish shoes, boots and other accessories. You’ll also find outerwear appropriate for looking your best in Minnesota, like wool and a few puffer style vests and jackets.
Take a look the next time you’re out and about. Suitsupply is located on the lower level of the Galleria across from Barnes and Noble.
For a bit more insight into the company’s thoughts on fashion, we asked a few questions about what we saw in store:
EM: Tell us about wearing white in winter.
SS: Off-white has become a new staple color for menswear, especially in winter. Doubting how to style a bold patterned jacket? An off-white turtleneck or pair of trousers will usually do the trick. Try to avoid optical white colors except, of course, a crisp white shirt.
EM: Tell us about rolled or cuffed pants. Is this strictly a casual look? Can anyone pull it off?
SS: A rolled cuff is typically done in casual styling, a cuffed hem is a more formal choice. But even a cuffed hem looks great with a pair of sneakers. Can anyone pull it off? Absolutely.
EM: Tell us about double-breasted vests/suits. Is this an alternative or a trend?
SS: We at Suitsupply strongly believe in three-piece suiting. A double-breasted vest under a single-breasted jacket makes for a modern and unexpected look. The double-breasted suit trend is still going strong, and our double-breasted Havana will give you a perfectly shaped silhouette.
