Allison Sundquist of Edina discovered For Goodness Cakes in late 2019 while researching ways to combine her passions for baking and volunteering. Daniel Hunt is one of those people in our community who do charitable work yet are too modest to talk about it. When he got a phone call that he’d received a Connecting with Kids Leadership award, he says he was humbled.
“I’m not interested in people saying to me, ‘Hey, you did a great job.’ It was an opportunity to talk about some of the things I do and why I do them,” Hunt says.

On Christmas Day in 2013, Kay Johnson and her son, Nathan, and daughter, Quinn, shared a meal with more than 1,200 guests. Thanks to an annual Christmas Day event called the Miracle, put on by the CraftWorks Foundation, the Johnsons volunteered to serve area homeless and low-income families a Christmas dinner at Rock Bottom Brewery in downtown Minneapolis. The experience of giving back to the community sparked a new holiday tradition for the Johnson family and has created more than just memories.
