The Wanderers

Edina social group welcomes new members.

Originating in the 1950s, the Wanderers started as a club where women new to Edina could meet other Edina women through social activities. Back then, the group went by the name Edina Newcomers and then Edina Newcomers and Friends. Current Wanderers president Sally Ebnet says the Wanderers are eager to welcome more women of all ages.

“We really have branched out and want to continue to branch out,” says membership chair Anne Shea. The group organizes relaxed, modern outings such as tours of breweries and a much-liked Books and Booze gathering. At Books and Booze, members meet over cocktails to discuss that month’s paperback. Not a big reader? Don’t worry: “Not everyone necessarily even reads the books!” says Ebnet.

The Wanderers most recent name change is an accurate reflection of their mission: to connect, explore and experience all of what the Twin Cities has to offer.
