Selling a home can be stressful. It can be even more difficult for seniors since they often have so many years and memories invested into their home. In this case, it may make sense to seek a realtor with a special senior real estate specialist (SRES) designation.
“People are so overwhelmed and have so much to worry about,” says Ted Field, a realtor who specializes in assisting seniors. “We go one step at a time.”
Field has been working with seniors to help through the selling process for over 25 years. While there are several services he offers, he stressed the importance of getting on as many waiting lists as possible.
“I’ve had folks about to move out, and they call a place to find out there aren’t any openings yet. Then it turns out there’s no space for them, and they need to move out in a month,” he says.
He and others like Twin Cities Care will help find places with the client in mind. Of course, it’s still not an easy process, but someone like Field can try to make it a little less stressful.
