Last year, Edina Magazine asked members of the community to tell us their favorites in 50 categories for our readers’ choice survey. Check out this list of 2014’s winners and see how this year’s crop compares: you’ll find some repeat favorites and some newcomers.
After Southdale Center was built in 1956, John Holt barely recognized the area around his home just south of the shopping mall. “Sometimes I lost my way at night because the streets were building up so fast,” he told the Minneapolis Star in 1960.
Asked to offer one piece of advice to first-time parents, new mom Carly Baker’s words are simple. “Seek out a community of moms; you’re in it together,” she says. And Baker did just that when her son Everett was born last spring.

One of the special things about this city is its heart for helping others. Countless Edina residents understand the value of giving back and how time spent caring for others strengthens the bonds of family, friendship and community connections.
