Open Streets on 50th

Join Edina locals at the fifth annual Open Streets for a day of fun on 50th Street between Wooddale Avenue and Chowen Avenue. There will be plenty of opportunities to get to know the community, from listening to live music, bringing your furry friend to the Pet Zone or hanging out at the Red Cow beer garden. Theaster Gates at the Walker Art Center

Artist Theaster Gates is taking over the Walker’s galleries for an immersive artistic experience. Originally trained in ceramics, Gates has expanded his practice to include performance, installation and archival conservation. He is best known for his 2009 project Dorchester Project in Chicago, which recycled a two-story property on the South Side, turning it into a performance space, library and archive. All ages. Jim Dayton: An Artist in His Studio Exhibition

Drawn from the archives of James Dayton Design, Ltd. as well as his personal studio, the show offers a chance to see the vast creative mind that was rarely at rest. Professionally, he was unique in the architectural world through his model building practice and numerous sketches. During his off-hours, he continued to create and explore through graphic design and branding projects, was an accomplished watercolor painter, and crafted exquisite fly-fishing flies. Auditions for Edina Chorale

The Edina Chorale, with its new Music Director Paige Armstrong, will celebrate its 35th year with its 2019-20 concert season. Edina Chorale is an ensemble that performs a wide variety of choral music throughout the year.
