Artist Theaster Gates is taking over the Walker’s galleries for an immersive artistic experience. Originally trained in ceramics, Gates has expanded his practice to include performance, installation and archival conservation. He is best known for his 2009 project Dorchester Project in Chicago, which recycled a two-story property on the South Side, turning it into a performance space, library and archive. All ages. The Jack Brass Band was formed in 1999 in the Twin Cities.  Based on the traditions of New Orleans’ brass bands, they are the ambassadors to the Crescent City’s rich musical history. Drawn from the archives of James Dayton Design, Ltd. as well as his personal studio, the show offers a chance to see the vast creative mind that was rarely at rest. The Edina Chorale, with its new Music Director Paige Armstrong, will celebrate its 35^th year with its 2019-20 concert season. Edina Chorale is an ensemble that performs a wide variety of choral music throughout the year. Join author Lyz Lenz and former Mayor Betsy Hodges for an evening of conversation on Lenz's new book, God Land. Cocktails, light bites and mingling will lead off the event, followed by a discussion of the book between Lenz and Hodges.
